Type: Community Starter Workshop
Location: Desa Alam Indah Ecovillage Ubud
Trainer: Ani Himawati
Participants: 9

The workshop was joined by a small group, more a family activity (mix between adults and kids). It was held in english. It went with most of the GEA method and agenda: started with a presentation, hands pn ecobrick making, then adult participats signed on gobrik. It was fun, warm, exciting for the kids, and leading to deeper conversation after that even some upcoming plans.

The prep was done a month prior. The starter workshop documeng was shared and diacussed, and used as a guidance to prep the workshop. Place, space, equipments such as scissors, wight-scale, sticks, etc, also the materials: chosen bottles and plastics. We had a technical problem with the LCD projector, so we ended up using a laptop and created the workshop as a small intimate circle.

In total it went in 2,5 hours. It started at 10am on fresh Saturday. After prep for about 10 mins (also waiting for participants), Ani started the presentation. Plastic, the biospherr and ecobricks was delivered in anout 45 mins. It was interactive and atracting all participants attention. 2 kids were also active.

After that, we made ecobricks with 2 different bottles. 2 kids each used a small botles (330ml) and 7 adults made from medium bottles 600ml. Hands on ecobrick making followed the guidelines, and with constantly weighed each ecobrick.

In about 1 hours we made 8 ecobricks, inlvuding 2 kids, without almost adult’s help. Each ecorbick reached a minimum density.

After that the adult started signing up gobrik.com

Also we watched many videos, especially modules making, cos we did not have a change tp make one. Hoever 2 participants already know how to build modular from the previous workshop. They will continue the moduel making process.

1. The presentation was delivered in about 40-45 mins with full attention and good inteactipn. Only with a laptop, people can follow. It actually was a good way to talk in a small circle. Intimate.
2. 8 out of 9 people could make their happy ecobricks, over the minimal density, with a good quality.
3. People could really see how ecobrick magicly ‘vacoom the all plastics we had. We spread all plastic in the center of the circle and when we finished ecobricks all plastics gone. We made pics of before and after and thats great.
4. The workshop led to more conversation and plan for their community: to do ecobrick party and build ecobrick bench in their garden for the near future.

In the beginning, the lcd issue was a problem but it turned it beautifully just by using a laptop.

Not everyone managed to create gobrik acc.

We did not show or practice how to make a module. – This is going to be the bexf agenda.

Always good to make sure that before the workshop, people had already signed up gobrik, so that we could log all ecobricks. And also if all bottles were same size (we wanted to use all only a smal bottle, bit it didnt happen), we could show how to make a stool. ~ next agenda!
